Everyone needs to stop what they are doing and sit down and read this. It's long but TOTALLY worth it.
It is after midnight. I have this article I have to finish for tomorrow morning and here I am reading this fic!
Gimme some drama and you'll make me happy. This story... oh, God... that was like I was put through a damn washing machine cycle. It brought me to tears at times, such a turmoil going on. Aww!
At times I wanted to yell at the main character for being such a scared-y cat and messing with poor Shane's feelings *I picked Shaney*. And then at times I just wanted to hug her and pet her hair and say it would be ok.
The second lifer I picked was Mark and I wanted to punch him on the face several times. Such an asshole! But at the end I liked him again. All is well in the world now!
I loved this story. I love shy, quiet love... you know the kind that just sneaks up on people and then it's so fragile that you're afraid to breathe because you think it will go away? I must have sighed 50 times reading this story... Shane was such a sweetheart here. I just wanted to cuddle up against him.
And the poor girl, all she had to endure. I was glad that she took a chance. It left me with a big smile on my face.
I really liked this story, Monique. A lot! And I'm not trying to wind you up. It's true. It was heartwarming.
Now I want to go and hug somebody but it's after midnight and everybody is asleep... so I'll just send you virtual hugs, I guess.

Well that was a good read, and now I don't think I'm gonna sleep properly! Too much hot and heavy there LOL.
If there's one thing I have to say didn't sit well with me was probably the role of the second lifer. I liked the banter that went on with him and the girl, and how he's very straight forward in his thinking and comments to the fave lifer. I just found his sudden change of tune after he learns a bit more about her and reasons why she is the way she is. It's like oh yeah so you've been through this drama so I'll like you now. Just didn't seem a bit of sudden change of tune. Perhaps that is who he is in the story?
Other then that good work!! Now sleep time.

I've always meant for him to be rather judgey and a bit mean towards the girl for he doesn't really get her and the feelings running between her and the fave lifer. He just feels there's something wrong and he fears the fave lifer is being taken advantage of. Then, when he finds out what drives the girl he changes his tune coz it makes him understand. That and in my mind his wife has battered some sense into him haha Maybe I've kept it all a bit too much in my own head though and not put it out there enough. Thanks for pointing it out ;)

Monique.... This is simply one hell of a great story.
You got me reading all the morning. But like my fave lifer would say in your story, It was all worth it ;)
Finally got chance to read this and I'm glad I did. Such a great story, I had tears in my eyes at one point. I think I picked the second lifer perfectly. 'moody blonde' I think he was described as...gotta be Kian haha.
Anyway, so yeah. Totally loved it. I loved how the main lifer, loved her for her and not how she looked. I think we all dream of finding someone like that. You wrote his and her emotions perfectly. Fab fic!
I'm also most insecure about writing 'hot and heavy' stuff. Sometimes wonder if i've gone into too much detail haha

It's good to know I'm not the only one struggling with the hot and heavy :p It's such a fine line between keeping it classy but still getting the hotness across.
The overall idea for this fic came to me when I saw some news coverage on a woman in Iran or Iraq or something of the like who got mutilated for the simple fact that she stood up for her beliefs. Horrible really...
Just finished the story WOW what a story really enjoyed it. Didn't see the end coming. Love the vibe & banter between the main characters.
