New Challenge for you... Short Stories

Hey everyone!
It has been a long time since we had our last proper challenge up for you. Even though not many of the requested ideas have become a story (maybe they nevertheless inspired you and you are still writing on it ;), we thought it would be nice to give you a fresh start with a new idea.

This is "Short Story-Challenge"
Put it in a nut shell, write less than six pages if you can!

To give you a little support, we put together a few characteristics of short stories...

Now, what’s a short story, aye? ;)

·         Well, it is, mostly rather short
·         The story starts abruptly, there is no introduction really
·         Typically the ending is open
·         Time warps are not very common. The story is told chronological and linear
·         There is not much enquired about the characters
·         The plot is described shortly and often deals with topics from the protagonists all day life
·         There are only a few protagonists
·         The ending is often a pointe, a surprising turn of events
·         Instead of a long telling-tale time the short story gives a glimpse into a few minutes or hours
·         Protagonists are often no heroes but mostly random and ordinary people
·         One special event/ occasion/ incident is the center of the story
·         Often there are no places or scenes named, often we don’t know where exactly
           the story takes place
·         Personal narrator instead of auctorial narrator

Christmas is just around the corner...

Not long now before that lovely Christmassy time will be upon us again. We felt like celebrating early, hence the new layout. We hope it gets you all in the mood.

Coz in the right mood we need you! To celebrate Christmas in style, we would love to see some Christmas stories coming our way. So, if you're in the mood to write or have something sitting on your computer of which you think it could be perfect to share, do so! We love to see your stories coming. Every Christmas story that is send in before December 20th will make it up the site before Christmas (come on, make me regret posting that! Send so many stories that I'll be scripting 24/7 come December 20th ;))

Also, to keep the spirit of looking back on our excisting fics in our little Throwbacks we've done lately; What are your favorite Christmas stories from the past? Let us all know so we can have a lovely re-read this holiday season.

Of course, every story that's not Christmas related is still very much welcome too. So, don't be shy! Got something to share, send us an email. We're always looking forward to new stories.

Did you know there's also a Neverland Forum? There's actually been one for years but it's been neglected over time. After some talk we've decided we wanted to try and bring it back to life again. So there's been a little revamp and older post have been closed and moved so that we can have a fresh start.

We think it can be perfect for sharing, discussing and helping each other out with our writing. And hopefully that will lead to more new stories for everyone to enjoy.

Fiction Online-Exchange-Service

Hey everyone!
It has been a while since I had the time to really work for Neverland and I am really sorry for it!
A big thank you goes to  Monique  again, she keeps the site alive while I am breastfeeding and changing diapers and Steffi is in a bad transition phase with her job and stuidies.
Anyways ... :) I hope you are all fine and writing, because for the first time in ages we are out of fics!

Now to keep you a little more busy, I thought about giving "ALL EYES ON..." another try and I want to be among the first ones to give you all a little insight into my writing and my workplace during the next days.

Another thing on my mind (as you can see in the post-title) would be a fiction online exchange. We all have some old material on our computers, maybe a few ideas we never mananged to write about or maybe some starters... Are you in the mood to share some of that stuff online so that maybe someone else can pick up your storyline or idea?

Let us know, I would really love that!

Challenge XXIII - Love Triangles

Hey y'all,

So, the current challenge has been running for quite some time so after some deliberation the Neverland staff has decided a new challenge is in order.
We now proudly present you; The Love Triangle challenge.

We challenge you to write a story involving a Love triangle. As usual there's a form that makes you blindly pick a 'lifer, a location, a quote and other stuff to incorperate in your fic. There's also something of a storyline embedded in the choices. You get to decide how to handle it, it's just a one-sentence suggestion.
The third party of the love triangle is up to you. It could be an actor you love, one of the other lifers or even a totally random stranger. Whatever suits your story best.

As we're talking writing, we've also been discussing the Contests we used to run. We always enjoyed them, how bout you?
A little reminder since it's been a while. Whereas in a challenge you mainly challenge yourself with the stuff we hand to you, in the Contest there's a challenge with the other writers of Neverland. There's a theme and that's it. The rest is up to you. Contests always used to run for about four/five months after which there'd be the uploading of fics and then voting for your favorites. The fics were meant to be longer fics since you have quite some time to write for them.

So what do you think? Should we get a new Contest going? And if so, what would you like for a theme? Hit us with your ideas and according to that we'll decide what to do!

Blogs that are worth reading or following...

Hey there, Neverlanders!
This is not about westlife, but blogs. Is there a site out there, a nice blog that you guys enjoy, host or follow? For some months I myself wrote about life and the kids and also put up some of the stuff that has been published in the magazine I work for.
Now I have been tagged and honestly I didn't have a clue what it meant. It seems to be fun, I had to answer some questions, find some new questions and send them to 5 other blogs that are worth reading, so hit me! I will of course tag neverland, but what else? Monique, is spinning closer also a blog and do you wanna participate? Maybe we can all find some new readers/writers /followers :)

Back... at least a little

Hey everyone!!
Thanks to Monique the site is fresh and clean and running, a big thank you and some dancing in my seat for that ;)

Now... since most of you might know me as a writer since, well, forever :) I have decided to do something I normally wouldn't because I tend to be extremly private when it comes to pictures and my family...
Check out my two reasons for not caring about the rest of the world and have a great day!!

Did you know....

When I saw Lullu's message on the tag-board I decided to do some updating on Neverland. It had been some time since the 'Fiction-list' and 'Author-list' were updated. It's not really the nicest thing to do -copy, paste, error, kicking computer, more errors, snoozing and then some more copy-ing and pasting- It's much nicer to just feed y'all the stories. 
But it is a good thing to keep track on which stories there are to find on Neverland.

Did you all know that we've actually passed the 500 mark? Yup, that's right! There's well over 500 Westlife Fanfictions to find on here! Can I get a whoop whoop? And that's all coz of you, all you fabulous writers and all you loyal readers! If it weren't for you, it never would've happened!

The fiction list is now up to date again. If you go in there you'll find all those 500+ stories lined up for you. Go on, pick one and enjoy. You know you want to ;)
Got a favorite author and want to see what more they have written? Yup, the author list is also updated now so that should make it easier for all of you to find the fics you're looking for.

And did you know that you can easily search for fics using tags? Find the 'tag-section' by scrolling down this page. Each blogpost gets its own tags, making it that much easier for you all to search for something you like. Click on 'romance' for all romantic stories or '18+' if  you're looking for something steamy for instance.

Remember, we're only human. If you find any errors anywhere on the site, please do let us know! We're only too willing to fix it but if we don't know it's there, well... Just leave a little message on the tagboard or send us an email and we'll get to it. And if it takes us some time or you don't hear back from us, don't hestitate to give it another try. Sometimes life prevents us from taking immediate action and things get lost along the way. Reminders are always appreciated.

There's a couple of stories scripted and lined up for y'all so do keep an eye out!

Hey everyone!
As you may have realised, this is definitely a Westlife-Fanfiction-Site and of course it will be until the end of time (at least we hope so ;) )
Now, since there are a few other great bands and people out there and we sometimes have someone playing a little guestrole in some fics already, I really think that it is about time to introduce another band to you, that captured both Steffi's and my heart completely.
Ladies and gentlemen (if there are any) Give it up for one of the greates rock/pop-bands in the world: Sunrise Avenue! 

 From left to right we got  Raul (bass), Sami (drums), Samu (lead vocals and guitar) and Riku (guitar and backvocals). Actually there is someone missing in these pics: Osmo, the keyboarder.
Sunrise Avenue is a Finnish band and they have been playing really good music for over 10 years now. I am actually pretty happy to have bands like them with great music, amazing shows and also really funny and weirdly down to earth members. Steffi and I have been to a concert together and we totally agree that this band needs to be included, at least sometimes :)

 I am right now creating this update as a little foretaste because I finished a fic and it is actually about Sunrise Avenue. For you guys I tried my best and started scripting it as a Westlife-Fic and it actually works pretty well. So let me give you a little background-story for this upcoming fic (I hope that I will manage to put up the first part tonight):
In February I had the great opportunity of meeting Riku Rajamaa, the guitarist, for a little meet and greet and interview. Of course I was thrilled and almost went bananas in my car when I drove 200 kilometres on my own for a little talk and a concert. As you can see (damn, I look fat! well beside that...) it was great and of course I am head over feet in love with that guy ;)
And I suddenly had the idea of writing about that night... about the things that happened and that could have happened and maybe also will happen in the future ;) Most of it is of course as usual totaly fictive and made up by my crazy brain but I hope that you will enjoy to play around and expand the idea of a little meet and greet and see what happens....

I will right now continue and hopefully finish scripting without being interrupted by the baby (fingers crossed) and as soon as I am finished I will upload the first part of the new Westlife- /Sunrise Avenue-Fic.

A new week coming up...

Hey everyone!
Wow, April already! We really hope you had some great months 2012 :)
Since we don't have many writers these days we also do not have many new fics coming up.
Steffi is still working hard on her exams and I myself still don't have a lot of time beside working and the baby... But we will of course keep taking care of Neverland and with the help of Bex, Monique and others we will script every fic as quickly as possible and also upload it.

We have some ideas for a new challenge, maybe beside some fantasy also including other bands to give you guys a real challenge and we hope many participants for it. And we still got ALL EYES... if anyone of you wants to participate and talk a little bit about herself and her fics.
There are so many ideas, hopefully we can implement at least a few of them soon!

If you know writers or got some old fics saved somewhere you can always send them in and share them. Westlife-related or not :) even other languages (we can script a few, just let us know) are possible.

Just as a little non-fic update.
